Channelling the elemental power of post-metal, the ethereal scale of shoegaze and the emotional depth of (legit) alternative rock, Blanket have managed to craft something pretty rare on this side of the pond: a hybrid of aggression and melody that never feels cloying or overwrought. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Cave In, HUM, Swervedriver and Ride, Blanket’s latest record 'Ceremonia' - out now on the excellent Church Road Records - is as accomplished outing as you’re gonna find for a UK rock band this year, and by all rights will blow many of their more pedestrian peers out of the water. They are, in short, a very, very good band indeed. Buckle up friends, they won’t be playing venues this size for long.
